We analyse the impacts of governance dimensions on the labor market, specifically on the informal sector of two developing countries : Madagascar and Vietnam. The thesis is structured around three chapters. The first chapter aims to determine the effect of trust in public institutions on labor market outcomes in Madagascar. The second chapter deals with issues of protection against discrimination: we seek to measure and characterize cases of ethnic and gender discrimination in the malagasy labor market. The third and last chapter looks at the effect of taxation on small firms’ formalization and informalization in Vietnam.
